Help:Billing-Edit Rate Schedule Tier
A rate schedule is used by the billing charges program to find the applicable rate when that rate varies based upon the four variables of Weight, Mileage, Discount and Density. It can be called by any type of billing code and it can return any type of rate. This eliminates the necessity to have a different billing code for each of the possible rates in such a variable rate structure. One billing code can return multiple rates when used in conjunction with a rate schedule.
The MoverBiz System will accommodate up to 999,999 different rate schedules. Each schedule can have an unlimited number of tiers, with each tier returning a different rate. These rate schedules are not Tariffs, but they might be able to be used for some simple freight tariffs when the only variables are Weight, Mileage, Discount and Density and when only a single rate is to be returned.
Rate Schedules are composed of "tiers". Following are instructions on how to add, change, or delete tiers from rate schedules:
Adding a Rate Schedule Tier:
The window titled Adding a Rate Schedule Tier is used to add a new tier to the selected rate schedule. NOTE: An asterisk ( * ) indicates a Required Field.
Tier: When adding a new tier to a new or existing rate schedule, the system will automatically number that tier one number higher than the highest numbered tier which currently exists in that rate schedule. You can override this tier number, if necessary. This allows you the flexibility of inserting a tier between existing tiers or moving an existing tier to another location in the hierarchy of tiers. Each tier of a rate schedule must be numbered with a unique number and the tier number will determine the order in which the rate schedule is searched for the proper rate. The lower numbered tiers will be searched first.
From Weight / To: These fields identify the spread of billing weights to which this tier of the rate schedule applies. If weight is not a factor in the schedule, then use weights of 1 to 999,999. The regular billing window will read the billing weight from the A/R master window to obtain the weight for this selection. This is a required field.
From Miles / To: These fields identify the spread of miles to which this tier of the rate schedule applies. If mileage is not a factor in the schedule, then use miles of 1 to 9999. The regular billing window will read the miles from the A/R master window to obtain the miles for this selection. This is a required field.
From Discount / To: These fields identify the spread of discounts to which this tier of the rate schedule applies. If discount is not a factor in the schedule, then use discounts of 1.00 to 99.99. The regular billing window will read the discount from the A/R master window to obtain the discount for this selection. This is a required field.
From Density / To: These fields identify the spread of density to which this tier of the rate schedule applies. If the density is not a factor in the schedule, then use densities f 0.0000 to 99.9999. The regular billing window will read the density from the A/R master window to obtain the density for this selection. This is a required field.
Rate: Enter the applicable rate for the defined weight, miles, discount, and density represented by this tier.
[ Add ] This button will appear if you pressed the [Insert] button on the previous window. Press this button to add this newly created tier to the selected rate schedule.
