Update Bank Account

The window titled Adding a Bank Account is used to add a new bank account and the window titled Changing a Bank Account is used to change an existing bank account's information in the Bank Account Master File.


Bank Number: Enter the number to be used to identify this bank account. This field will accept numbers 1 - 99. (NOTE: You cannot "change" this bank number for an existing bank account; therefore, this field will be unavailable on the Changing a Bank Account window.

Bank Name: Enter the name of the bank account.

G/L Number: Enter the general ledger account number that is the control account for this bank account. This is usually an asset and this account must be marked as Restricted in the General Ledger Account Name File. Press the [?] to the right of the description field for a listing of the current Active and Restricted general ledger accounts. The name of the G/L Account will be displayed to the right of this G/L Number field. NOTE: For additional information regarding "restricted" accounts, please see Select an Active and Restricted General Ledger Account.

Bank Account: Use this field to enter the bank account number which has been assigned to this account by the bank. This is an informational field only.

Reconciled Balance: This field represents the balance per the bank on your last reconciled bank statement. For further information, please refer to Step #2 in Getting Started. NOTE: If this is a newly opened bank account, then leave this field blank since no transactions have been reconciled as of yet.

Last Deposit: Enter the number of the last deposit made into this system. Unlike checks, which are always pre-numbered, the bank makes no reference to deposits by any external number. In order for our system to uniquely identify all deposits, a unique number must be assigned to each deposit. This numbering is automatic when new deposits are recorded. This last deposit number represents the last number which was used by the system. If this is a new account, then enter a 1. For additional information, please refer to Step #2 in Getting Started. NOTE: The up/down arrows to the right of this field can be used to move the number in this field up or down one number at a time.

Last Adjustment: Enter the number of the last adjustment made into this system. Unlike checks, which are always pre-numbered, the bank makes no reference to adjustments by any external number. In order for our system to uniquely identify all adjustments, a unique number must be assigned to each adjustment. This numbering is automatic when new adjustments are recorded. NOTE: The up/down arrows to the right of this field can be used to move the number in this field up or down one number at a time.

[ Add ] This button will appear if you selected the [Insert] button on the Bank Account Maintenance window. Press this button to record the information entered on this window in the Bank Account Master File.

[ Save ] This button will appear if you selected the [Change] button on the Bank Account Maintenance window. Press this button to record the changes made on this window in the Bank Account Master File.

[ Cancel ] Press this button to close this window and return to the Bank Account Maintenance window. NOTE: If you make any changes in this window and then press the [Cancel] button to ignore those changes, then another window titled Save Record will open which asks "Do you want to save the changes to this record?". For additional information, please see Save Record.

[ Help ] Press this button, if available, or the F1 key to view the Help text for this window.
