Import an ASCII File Format

Many of our customers have multiple companies. The Export Format and Import Format options enable customers with multiple companies to share invoice formats between companies. The window titled Import an ASCII File Format will copy the contents of an existing ASCII Text File into a new report format. You will need to give this a new Form ID Number and Description. This is the easiest way to get a new format into your file, if that format already exists outside of your system.

Import File: Enter the full name of the ASCII File you wish to import into the format file. Press the {?} button to the right of this field for a pick list of existing files available to be imported. The file name, including the Drive Letter and Path, must be entered in this field before it can be imported.

New Form ID: Enter a Form ID number for this new form. NOTE: This Form ID must be a new number as you cannot duplicate Form ID numbers within the same format type.

Description: Enter a brief description for this new form.

Form Width: Enter the form width (number of characters) of this new form. Please note that this is a Required Field. You cannot import a file without designating this Form Width.

Form Length: Enter the form length (number of lines) of this new form. Please note that this is a Required Field. You cannot import a file without designating this Form Length.

[ Import ] Press this button to import this file into your format file.

[ Cancel ] Press this button to close this window and return to the previous window without importing a file.

[ Help ] Press this button (if available) or the F1 key to view the Help text for this window.
