Editing File Redirection Maintenance

The IBS system can access its data files locally, across a local area network, or across a wide area network. The programs do not have to reside in the same location as the data files. The window titled File Redirection Maintenance is used to tell the program where the data files are located. The File Redirection File's name is "???RED.TPS" (??? = designation of specific module, e.g. JM1RED.TPS is the name of the File Redirection File for Job Cost Manager).

In most cases, the data files will be located in the data directory for your system. The default IBS data directory of \C01_DATA\ (if company #1) is automatically placed in the file for you. The File Redirection File is located in the start-up directory. This file must be properly set up for the program to be able to locate the data files. This window enables you to tell the program where the data files are currently located. If you are not sure where the data files should be placed, then contact Technical Support for help. NOTE: Be sure to put a backslash ( \ ) in front of and behind the data file location.

The current path location is displayed at the top of this window titled File Redirection Maintenance. If your data files are on the same drive as your current path location, then a Drive letter need not be specified in the Data Files Location Path.

[ Change ] If you wish to change the specific Data Files Location Path for one of the Data File Groups displayed on this window, highlight that group and press the [Change] button. This will open the Change File Redirection window which allows you to Edit File Redirection . This is usually done only after consulting with a computer professional and our Technical Support staff.

[ Close ] This button is used to accept the default Data Files Location Paths assigned or to accept any changes you made to Data Files Location Path.

[ Help ] Press this button (if available) or the F1 key to view the Help text for this window.

[ Re-Set All Paths ] This button is used to change the Data Files Location Path for ALL Data File Groups. Simply type the exact Drive Letter and Path into the box labeled [Re-Set All Paths] and then press the [Re-Set All Paths] button. The Data Files Location Path will be changed for ALL Data File Groups listed on the window. If these are correct, press the [Close] button to accept your changes and return to the menu. If the new Data Files Location Path is not correct, then repeat these instructions to Re-Set All Paths to the correct data file location path. NOTE: The [?] to the right of the [Re-Set All Paths] box can be used to browse for a folder.

Note: The new data file locations will not be recognized until you exit the program and then re-enter the program.
