Help:PY1-Add Standard Deduction
This window titled Standard Deductions Maintenance displays all of the standard deductions which have been set up in the Standard Deductions File (PY1D05.TPS). Deductions #1 through #6, which are maintained by the program, will be automatically displayed in this window. Any other deduction which you wish to use during payroll calculation must be set up first in this Standard Deductions File and then set up in each employee's master file, as appropriate.
Deduction: This field is a locator field. Type in the deduction number and the window will display the deductions starting with the closest match to the deduction entered in this field. If this field is highlighted, then press the Tab Key to start the display.
[ Insert ] Press this button to open a window titled Add a Standard Deduction which enables you to add a new deduction to the Standard Deductions File.
[ Change ] Press this button to open a window which enables you to change the highlighted deduction. The name of the window which opens will depend upon the type of deduction you elect to change, as follows: If you elect to change Deductions #1, #3, or #4, then the window will be titled Changing a Standard Deduction. If you elect to change Deduction #2, then the window will be titled Changing a Federal Tax Deduction. If you elect to change Deduction #5, then the window will be titled Changing a State Tax Deduction. If you elect to change Deductions # 6 through #99, the window will be titled Changing a Local Tax Deduction. If you elect to change Deductions #100 through #9999, the window will be titled Changing a Miscellaneous Deduction. [ Delete ] Press this key to open a window which enables you to delete the highlighted deduction. The name of the window which opens will depend upon the type of deduction you elect to delete, as follows: If you elect to delete Deductions # 6 through #99, then the window will be titled Removing a Local Tax Deduction. If you elect to delete Deductions #100 through #9999, the window will be titled Removing a Miscellaneous Deduction. NOTE: The system will allow you to delete the Local Tax Deduction #6 from an employee's deduction master file; however, it will not allow you to delete Local Tax Deduction #6 from the Standard Deductions File. The system will allow you delete any of the other Local Tax Deductions (#7 through #99) from an employee's deduction master file and/or the Standard Deductions File, as appropriate.
[ Print ] Press this button to print a listing of the standard deductions.
[ Add To All ] Press this button to add the highlighted deduction to all employees.
[ Update All ] Press this button to change the highlighted deduction for all employees who have that deduction. It is an easy way to update a new local tax rate or deduction rate that is uniformly applied to all employees who have this deduction.
NOTE: It will not add the deduction to those employees who do not already have this deduction in their deduction master file. This Update All option will only update the deduction for those employees who already have this deduction in their file. [ Close ] Press this to close this window and return to the previous window.
